Hitflip
Written and directed by
Bruce Robinson, this British film is based on his life in London during the 1960s. The film which has both tragic and comic elements follows the lives of Withnail, played by Richard E. Grant (
Jack and Sarah) and I, played by Paul McGann (
Shackleton), who also acts as a narrator throughout. Both tired and drunk of their daily struggle to gather enough pennies to buy the next round of drinks, they decide to take a holiday to the Uncle of I, Monty (Richard Griffiths). The holiday itself does not go quite according to plan but the chaotic consequences are not without hilarity. This is a classic film which has gained cult status through its notable music and quotable lines.
