Written and directed by Christopher Nolan (
Fünf Felder grün), Memento is psychological thriller based on a book called Memonto Miro written by his brother Jonathan Nolan, who also co-wrote the screenplays for
The Prestige and this years The Dark Knight. It follows the life of Leonard Shelby who is on a search to find the man he believes to have killed his wife during a burglary which left him suffering from amnesia. Unable to store new memories, he constructs his life out of photographs, tattoos, index cards and some obsessive habits that stand for substitutes for his lost memory and his lost wife. Paranoid and vulnerable, Leonard trusts no one but must rely for others for help. As the story begins to unfurl, the meaning of events his life and memories change. Starring Carrie-Anne Moss (

The Matrix series), Guy Pearce (

L.A. Confidential) and Jo Pantoliano (
